(Tim Berger/Staff Photographer) Though its a new era for the La Canada High boys golf team, many of the goals remain the same. One was extending the Spartans streak of dominance in the Rio Hondo League. La Canada completed an undefeated league run Thursday following a 195-208 win against San Marino at La Canada Country Club. The Spartans (10-0, 8-0 in league) wrapped up the league championship Tuesday with a win against Monrovia and have won 13 consecutive league titles. You just want to keep that streak going, though you know its not going to last forever, La Canada first-year Coach Derrick Williams said. Its great to win league again and even Canada|Liquid Grip better to do it by going undefeated, even though in wasnt necessarily a goal to go undefeated. We have such a deep team and we have guys showing up. Theres a lot of potential throughout the lineup. Despite gusty winds throughout most of the match, La Canada received a three-over-par 37 from Jason Del Fierro, a 38 from Max Kinsel, 39 from Dylan Choi, 40 from Eduardo Torres and a 41 from Andrew Ricci. The Spartans will compete in the two-day league individual finals, beginning Tuesday and ending Wednesday at Marshall Canyon Golf Course in La Verne. La Canada will then compete at the CIF Southern Section Central Coastal Team Divisional on May 15 at The Alisal River Course in Solvang. We were able to win league and now we want to do well at our league individual tournament, said Williams, a former Michigan State University mens golfer and the Glendale Community College womens coach. Weve got some time to prepare for that and then get ready for the playoffs.
